Five-year-old Poppy Crown was brave enough to have her Rapunzel-style locks lopped off for the Little Princess Trust, and raised hundreds for charity at the same time.
Poppy, from Leigh Park, decided last year she wanted to donate her long hair to the charity after seeing a YouTube video about it, and had more than a foot of hair cut off at the Heron pub on Saturday.

Kay Crown, Poppy’s proud mum, said: ‘The day was absolutely perfect. We arrived at the Heron just before 11am and waited for the hairdresser to arrive, friends and family turned up to support Poppy.
‘Emma Cupit, the manager of the Heron, arranged everything brilliantly. Poppy took her seat ready to have her hair cut and was really excited, everyone cheered including customers of the pub once it was cut.
‘She had a few photos then Anna snuck out and surprised her, she was watching the CCTV in the office waiting for the perfect time. Poppy ran and gave her this biggest hug ever and cried, she was so happy to see Anna.’

So far, Poppy has raised around £800 for Macmillan Cancer Support through her efforts, and her school Riders Infant School are putting on a ‘mad hair day’ this Friday with all donations to go towards her fundraiser.
Kay, 34, said: ‘She is super excited for Friday at school when she gets to spray her hair different colours for mad hair day.
‘We are truly overwhelmed with everyone's kindness and generosity in supporting Poppy’s fundraising. She’s already wanting to grow her hair and do it all again in a few years’ time.’
