A ‘loving’ grandfather died after being hit by two cars in Winchester.

Robert George Soper, 81, was walking on Andover Road North, Winchester, at 7.50am on January 10 when the collision, involving a Peugeot 807 and Land Rover Discovery, happened.

Known as Bob he lived in Bereweeke Road, Winchester.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have now paid tribute to him.

They said: ‘Robert George Soper was known to everyone as Bob. He was happily married to his wife Diane for 58 years.

‘Bob was father to David and Richard, and father in law to Mark and Georgie. He was the loving grandad of Matthew and Emily.

‘Recently settled in Winchester, Bob spent most of his life living in and working around Itchen Abbas.

‘He was a quiet, contented man with a warm heart that was full of mischief.

‘He is much missed by his family and friends.’

Enquiries into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing and officers investigating are still keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already contacted us.
