Victorious Festival 2020: Second wave of acts announced with The Streets and Royal Blood to headline alongside Ian Brown

A HUGE wave of artists has been announced for Victorious Festival, including those filling the highly anticipated Saturday and Sunday headline slots.

An announcement in December saw big names including Ian Brown, The Kooks and Peter Hook and the Light introduced to the festival set to hit Southsea Common in August.

Five-foot letters spelling out ‘FIT BUT U KNOW IT’ appeared in Southsea on January 24, hinting at the now-confirmed Saturday headliner The Streets.

With a career spanning nearly 20 years and fronted by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mike Skinner, Birmingham hip-hop act The Streets will play a mix of classic hits and new releases.

Their debut album Original Pirate Material, released in 2002, is widely regarded to have changed the face of British rap music, and second album A Grand Don’t Come For Free was a huge worldwide success spawning hit singles like Fit But You Know It and Dry Your Eyes.

Southsea's Icebreaker Festival announces a summer meltdown

Headlining Sunday is English rock duo Royal Blood who followed up their self-titled 2014 album with 2017’s How Did We Get So Dark? with hits such as Come On Over, Little Monster and I Only Lie When I Love You.

The line-up also sees Nile Rodgers and Chic take to the stage over the August bank holiday.

Having sold more than 100 million records including huge worldwide hits Good Times, Everybody Dance and Le Freak, Nile has worked with a staggering list of true music legends.

Following rave reviews from their latest studio album, Everything Else Has Gone Wrong, Bombay Bicycle Club also joins the bill and promises to bring indie music to the forefront with acoustic melodies and energetic instrumentals.

Also on the bill is singer-songwriter Rag ‘N’ Bone Man, Craig David’s TS5, Blossoms, The Fratellis, Welsh rockers Feeder, La Roux, Johnny Marr, Miles Kane, DJ Fresh, indie-rockers Mystery Jets, Morcheeba, Reef, Twin Atlantic, Stereo MC’s, Cast, Eve, Glasvegas, Jaguar Skills, The Snuts, Aaron Smith, John, Wild Front and Andrew Cushin.

Andy Marsh, festival director, said: ‘We couldn’t be more excited about this year’s festival. Our first wave of artists were extremely well received and we’re delighted to bring a second wave that is equally as strong.

Founded in 2011, Victorious Festival is the UK’s biggest metropolitan festival of music and family entertainment, taking place over the weekend of August 28 to 30 on Southsea Common.

Thousands of people flooded into the city for 2019’s scorching three-day event, which brought in £9.84m to Portsmouth’s economy in the festival’s biggest financial windfall yet, as well as £48,569 being given to local charities by the organisers.
