Woman rescued from Lee-on-the-Solent house fire as two men flee blaze

A WOMAN has been rescued by firefighters from a house fire in Lee-on-the-Solent.

Fire crews from Gosport were alerted to the blaze at a house in Bracken Close at 5am.

Two men had already escaped the house after being alerted by the property’s smoke alarm, firefighters had to enter the building to bring the remaining woman to safety.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a cooker hob left on.

Crew manager Alex Hay said: ‘This incident shows the importance of having a working smoke alarm. It is important to check your smoke alarm at least once a month to ensure it is working.’

There are not believed to have been any serious injuries to the occupants although the woman was passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Two appliances from from Gosport attended the fire with firefighters being stood down at 6.15am.
