Police appeal for help after botched burglaryÂ

POLICE are searching for three men who attempted to break into a shop with a crow bar before making off empty handed.

Hampshire police have released three CCTV images following the botched burglary at Spar in St Mary's Road, Portsmouth, at about 2.45am on Monday August 20.

After failing to gain entry, the men left the scene in an old, dark-coloured Jeep, travelling the wrong way down Cuthbert Road, which is one-way street.

And following the release of CCTV images police  are keen for the public's help.  

Police have said the first man was white, aged 20-25-years-old with a slim build. He had brown hair, short around back and sides and was wearing dark, slim-fitting jacket and jeans.

The second man police are on the lookout for is described as white with a large build. He was wearing a black baseball cap, which was covering his face, and a royal blue jumper.

The third man is also described as white aged 18-25-years-old with a medium build.

He was wearing a camouflage hat, a black, ribbed body warmer and dark Adidas tracksuit bottoms.

Police said in a statement: '˜We are aware that the CCTV images are not of the best quality, however we think if you know these three people, you may recognise them.'
