Councils' '˜huge' cash pressure
A CITY MP has spoken of the '˜huge' financial pressures councils across the country are facing.
The warning came from Stephen Morgan, the Labour MP for Portsmouth South, as he took part in a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee at the House of Commons this week.Â
Mr Morgan, who is also a councillor for the city's Charles Dickens ward, said the committee and the National Audit Office were '˜not convinced' the government's Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government '˜understood' the issue of financial sustainability of local services.Â
The PAC meets every Monday at 4.30pm and every Wednesday at 3.30pm.
