Gosport MP tours children's hospice

MP CAROLINE Dinenage saw first-hand the work of a hospice supporting children with life-limiting illnesses.

The Gosport MP visited Naomi House and Jacksplace, in Winchester, following the hospice's recent 21st anniversary parliamentary reception at the House of Commons.

Ms Dinenage joined chief executive Mark Smith and director of care and deputy chief executive Lesley Brook on a tour of the hospice buildings.

She then visited the care floor to meet children and young adults as well as visiting the sensory room, hydrotherapy suite, music therapy room, gardens and bedrooms.

Ms Dinenage, who is also minister for care, said: '˜Naomi House and Jacksplace provide an invaluable service for children and young people with a variety of needs.

'˜They use advanced technology to help staff provide high quality care in a warm and compassionate environment.

'˜It was a pleasure to visit and talk to the dedicated nurses and care staff who do such an incredible job.'

Mr Smith thanked Ms Dinenage for her visit, adding: '˜It was a great opportunity to show her our facilities, introduce her to our highly skilled staff and discuss our future plans.'
