Portsmouth restaurant the Akash will appear on TV tomorrow night

A PORTSMOUTH restaurant is set to appear on a national television show tomorrow night.

Indian restaurant The Akash, in Albert Road, will feature on Channel 5 programme ‘Saturday Night Takeaways: Binge Britain’ on Saturday, November 7 at 7.40pm.

QA staff treated to free meals from Portsmouth curry house

The 90 minute show will examine the Brits’ obsession of takeaway foods, from fish and chips and kebabs to pizza and curries as well as some trade secrets.Manager Faz Ahmed and his team at The Akash will appear on the episode. Mr Ahmed said: ‘It was great to be involved in a show that celebrates our love of food and our obsession with the Great British takeaway and to highlight that we are willing to go to any lengths for customer service.’

The Akash hit the headlines in 2018 when it delivered curry to 30 expats in France.

And at the start of lockdown it also provided free curries to QA Hospital staff.
