Travellers set up camp in King George V playing fields car park

A GROUP of travellers have pitched up camp in Portsmouth.

Five caravans have been parked up in the car park next to King George V Playing Fields in Cosham.

The caravans, which all have French number plates, arrived yesterday.

The travellers refused to speak at length to The News, but confirmed they would be leaving today.

Leader of Portsmouth City Council, Councillor Gerald Vernon-Jackson, confirmed the council was aware the group was at the field.
