Portchester hoping fresh pair will fire goals'¦Â Deans opportunity

AFC Portchester begin their defence of the Wessex League Cup at Romsey Town tonight (7.45pm).

The Royals have already been knocked out of the FA Cup and Hampshire Senior Cup with a lack of goals a key factor.

New striker Dan Simmons, from Pagham, made his debut in the 0-0 draw against Fareham Town.

Joint-manager Mick Catlin is hoping he can make a difference.

The Royals will also have Andy Todd back involved.

Catlin said: '˜We won this competition last season and would love to retain it.

'˜Also we are running out of cup competitions to do well in. It will be nice to get a cup win and it would give us a bit of a filip.

'˜We need to start winning games and the sooner the better. Hopefully our new strike pairing can score the goals we need.'
