Portsmouth International Port install solar panels
PORTSMOUTH International Port have helped lower the city's carbon footprint by adding a new solar system on the roof.
Some 192 photovoltaic panels have been installed to harness solar energy, and are among the latest and most efficient on the market.
The system is designed to offset the demand for electricity in the terminal building and the project completed by solar specialists Ecosphere Renewable
Funded and project-managed by Portsmouth City Council, the solar panels can produce 50KWp of electricity, and can help reduce the terminal’s electricity bills by up to £600 a year.
The system could help reduce the carbon footprint of the passenger terminal by 20 tonnes of CO2.
