M27 crash: What we know so far

Here is what we know so far about this afternoon's crash on the M27, which is causing delays of up to an hour coming out of Portsmouth.

What happened?

The accident happened just after 1pm and involved a collision between a lorry and several cars.

Emergency services are on the scene, and two people have been taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital with non-serious injuries.

The westbound route was closed for about an hour but has now reopened, with traffic moving slowly.

Diversions were in place via the A27.

There are also tailbacks as far as the A2030 Eastern Road junction as a result.

What is the advice for drivers?

Drivers are being advised not to use the motorway, with vehicles queueing back as far as the A3(M).

They are being warned to expect delays of at least an hour.
