Multi-vehicle incident on M27 causes hour long delays this morning

A CRASH involving multiple vehicles on the M27 has caused traffic delays of more than an hour this morning.

The incident left one lane blocked between junction 11 for the A27 at Portsmouth and junction 10 for the A32, according to an traffic update service from Hampshire County Council.

Portsmouth resident Martin Beard drove past the crash at 8.10am and said: ‘I saw four cars involved after junction 10 in the third overtaking lane.

‘As of 15 minutes ago removal crews had arrived.’

Police reported attending a four car collision between junctions 10 and 9 of the M27.

A police spokesman said: ‘We were called at 7.02 am to a report of a collision between junctions 10 and 9, involving four vehicles. No injuries have been reported.’

The lane is now clear and delays are easing.

At 8.40am, Romanse tweeted: ‘#M27 #Fareham Westbound - RTI CLEARED between J11/A27 #Fareham and J10/A32 #Fareham, delays now easing on approach.’

Emergency services were also called out to a car fire on the motorway during rush hour.

Police attended the blaze at junction 10a of the M27 at 8.29am.

No one was in the vehicle and it has now been cleared.
