Storm Ciara: Roads on Southsea seafront shut due to extreme weather conditions

STORM Ciara has caused roads on the seafront to be shut due to the adverse weather conditions.

Severe winds have been battered Portsmouth and Southsea throughout the day, as well as other parts of the area.

Due to the stormy weather, Clarence Esplanade has been shut from Hover Travel to the Seafront D-day Car Park.

While Seafront Esplanade is also closed from junction of St George's Road Eastney to the junction with St Helen’s Parade.

Stokes Bay Road in Gosport has also been shut after flooding due to Storm Ciara.

Homes in Swanmore as well as in parts of Waterlooville have been left without power, with the outages expected to last for hours.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for across the Portsmouth area and that remains in place until 9pm.

Flood warnings have also been issued for across the region by the Environment Agency.
