A27 crash: Two drivers injured after Amazon lorry overturns near Chichester

Two drivers have been injured after a major crash on the A27 this morning.

A lorry overturned and landed on the central reservation near Chichester at about 5.40am.

Police were told a car had collided with the lorry after it overturned.

The lorry driver – a 62-year-old man – suffered a serious injury and has been taken to hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A 50-year-old woman, who was driving the car, suffered minor injuries.

The road is currently closed in both directions between the Emsworth and Fishbourne roundabout – you can read our live updates here.

Highways England and Sussex Police have warned that the route will likely be closed for ‘a number of hours’.

Diversions are in place for drivers.

Police are also looking for witnesses as they begin their investigation into the crash.
