Elderly woman dies in Hampshire crash

A 90-year-old woman died in an accident which left an 88-year-old man with serious injuries.

The woman died following the collision at the junction of Durford Road and Heath Road East in Petersfield yesterday afternoon (July 23) at 2.30pm.

A statement from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘The collision was between a black Vauxhall Corsa and a silver Vauxhall Astra, causing the Astra, of which the 90-year-old woman was a passenger, to overturn.

‘Despite the best efforts of the ambulance crew, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Astra, an 88-year-old man from Petersfield, has been taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.’

To help investigations, officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision and in particular any motorist who may have dash-cam footage of the incident.
