Family pay tribute to Fareham cyclist who died after a collision with a motorcycle in Portsmouth

THE mother of a cyclist who died after a collision with a motorcycle has described him as her ‘darling boy’.

Brett Michael Thorne, 39, of Fareham, was taken to Southampton General Hospital following the crash on Portsdown Hill Road on Tuesday evening but police confirmed he has now died.

In a statement mum Susan said: ‘My darling son, I love you so much. I'm absolutely devastated, you'll always be in my heart.

‘You shouldn't have gone the way you did and so young.

Enquiries are ongoing into the exact circumstances of the collision and police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage.

A motorcyclist with serious injuries was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital but police were unable to give an update on their condition.

A police spokesman said: ‘We were called to a collision involving a motorcycle and bicycle on Portsdown Hill Road at 8.35pm.

‘Anyone with information can call 101, quoting 44200044485, alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’

The road was closed between Farlington Avenue and Crookhorn Lane while emergency services dealt with the incident.
