James Callaghan Drive in Portsmouth closed after bus comes off road - recap updates

A major road north of Portsmouth was closed after a bus hit a tree this afternoon.

James Callaghan Drive, which is near to QA Hospital, was shut to traffic after the crash shortly before 1.20pm.

The road was closed in both directions between the B2177 and Portsdown Hill Road.

Portchester Fire Station said a single decker bus had come off the road in James Callaghan Drive.

The bus has been secured and the ambulance service helped bring people off the bus.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson said two people were treated for minor injuries – you can read our latest update here.

First Bus, the company which operates the bus involved, said an investigation into the crash would be carried out.
