A MAN in his 60s died at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash this morning close to the M27.

The collision, which took place just after 8.30am, involved a heavy goods vehicle, Nissan Navara, Mercedes Vito van and Renault Relay van on the M271 southbound in Southampton.

The crash closed the southbound carriageway from the M27 to the A35 at Redbridge whilst there were delays on the M27 between junction 3 and junction 2.

A police statement said: ‘We are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 60s sadly died in a collision on the M271 this morning.

‘Officers are making enquiries into the exact circumstances of the collision.

‘We are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision this morning, particularly anyone who has dash cam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to it.’
