‘One of our local operation managers investigated and he found the child's scooter at Fratton which was the cause of the problem. This was removed, and the power was successfully turned back on. This caused delays to the first few trains that left Portsmouth Harbour. We are sorry for the delay to your journeys.’

Network Rail Wessex tweeted: ‘Sorry to start Monday with bad news but we've had problems at #Fratton after a child's scooter was dumped on the tracks and short circuited the live rail. This means some @SW_Help trains were late leaving on their journeys from #Portsmouth - please check before you travel.’
