WATCH: Thousands enjoy Portsmouth's fireworks spectacular

FAMILIES were left thrilled at Portsmouth's annual fireworks display this evening.

An array of glistening colours lit the skyline during a jaw-dropping 20-minute display that was put on by Nemisis Pyrotechnics.

Thousands of people from across the region flocked to King George V Playing Fields at Cosham to be dazzled by various different fireworks at the free event, which had a pirate theme this year.

Bob Britton, from Hill Head, was among those who praised the show organised by Portsmouth City Council. He said: ‘It’s a really good event - we come every year.

‘There’s plenty of entertainment for the kids.’

Susannah and Andy Norton, from Cosham, went to the event with their two daughters Annabel and Winter.

Susannah said: ‘We’ve got really good weather for it.

‘Everyone you speak to in the day say they’re going. It’s great they have a missing child tent set up.’
