Met Office issues another weather warning for Portsmouth as heavy rain expected

The Met Office has warned of spells of heavy rain this afternoon and evening which could lead to flooding in some areas.
The yellow weather warning, which covers Hampshire as well as parts of Surrey and Sussex, is in place from 3pm until 11.45pm today.

Hide AdForecasters said bus and train services will probably be affected with journey times taking longer, and there will likely be spray on flooding on roads.
A Met Office spokesperson said: ‘Outbreaks of rain will become heavy and persistent at times this afternoon and evening before clearing from the west by midnight.
‘Rainfall totals will reach 20 to 30 mm in places with as much as 40 mm in a few spots.’
According to the Met Office there is a strong chance of heavy rain between 12pm and 2pm, and from 4pm onwards.

Hide AdThe warning comes after Storm Brendan bought wet conditions to the Portsmouth area on Tuesday.
Seafront roads, including in Gosport and Titchfield, had to be closed while Southsea seafront was also shut to traffic.
Huge waves were spotted with parts of Clarence Esplanade and South Parade Pier being flooded overnight.
