Portsmouth weather: Travel disruption warning as ice alert issued by Met Office

The Met Office has issued the yellow alert for between midnight and 10am on Wednesday.

Commuters are warned that it is likely that there will be 'some travel disruption’ tomorrow morning.

On its website, the Met Office says: ‘A mix of rain and hail showers, with some snow over higher ground, is likely to leave surfaces wet overnight. Surface temperatures are then expected to fall below freezing with icy stretches forming in places.’

Residents are also advised that there is chance of ‘some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces’.

While there could also be ‘some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths’ on Wednesday morning.

Temperatures are predicted to feel like -2C throughout the night in Portsmouth.

However it is expected to be clear between 12am and 10am, according to the Met Office’s latest forecast.
