'An utter disaster. Absolutely one of the worst signings': Charlton Athletic slam former Portsmouth man after £1.5m signing
Millenic Alli scored one goal in 21 outings on loan for Pompey last season.
Charlton Athletic fans have slammed Millenic Alli’s start at The Valley on social media as his frustrations continue.
The winger netted one goal and collected two assists for John Mousinho’s side as he played a key role in the Blues survival battle in the absence of Josh Murphy and Keshi Anderson.
It’s been an underwhelming introduction in south London for Alli since his £1.5m switch from Luton Town, however.
The Irishman has grabbed just one assist and is yet to get off the mark in front of goal for Nathon Jones’ side, who currently sit four points above the relegation zone in 21st, since his big-money capture.
The attacker has had to predominantly settle for a role off the bench for the Addicks, with only three of his 12 Championship outings coming from the start, of which one came against Pompey in September.
And with Charlton enduring a disappointing start to the campaign, which has seen them pick up just 14 points so far, supporters have been far from impressed with the £1.5m former Pompey loanee.
Here’s the best of the reaction from X.
Charlton verdict on £1.5m former Pompey as frustrations continue
@ryandCAFC: We spent £1.5 mill on Millenic Alli…
@brayash24: Pound for pound looking like the worst signing ever and I don’t say that lightly.
@Noddy81775797: I really don't want to see Bindon, Ouma, Grant or Moronic Alli in a Charlton shirt again. I've seen enough thank you.
@lifeasaCAFCfan: He genuinely looks like he struggles to run/sprint. Throw a football into the mix and it’s game over. Absolutely one of the worst signings in recent years. And we’ve had some bad ones.
@Jimmyyy_____: The fact we gave Luton 1.5 million great British pounds this summer for Millenic Alli is the reason why Nathan jones and this recruitment team cannot be trusted with any large amounts of money, even if we did have it available. Utterly clueless.
@shiny71449: Grant and Alli should never wear a Charlton shirt again.
@Ben_cg: Whoever decided to sign Millenic Alli, let alone spend actual money on him, should never work in football again.
@Joeh_1993: Alli is up there with one of the worst players I've ever seen in a Charlton shirt.
@owencafc1417: There’s disaster then there’s cataclysm
@MattyCAFC: I’m absolutely convinced that something changed the day Jones pushed Docherty out the door. No work rate or effort. Ouma, Skipp, Alli are three of the biggest frauds I’ve seen down Charlton in a long time. Make the change and ship them out in January.
@CafcJ76489: Millenic Alli it’s not too late to go corporate. Then again I doubt you have the work rate for that either.
@ValleyFloydFred: We bought Millenic Alli for £1,000,000 and on a four-year contract. What an utter disaster.
@gould_clin83383: And Nathan and Rodwell told the owners he would progress well at Charlton and his value would go up.
@crimp_it: From what we have seen not even sure he would be useful in L1.
