One of these services, The Marketing Agency, offers local businesses free marketing support from industry experts and students – from market research to social media and brand design. It’s delivered through the Portsmouth Business Support Service in collaboration with the University, Portsmouth City Council and Shaping Portsmouth.

Last month we delivered the latest session of the Marketing Agency’s Summer Workshop Series ‘Find Your Customers: Understanding Your Market’. The workshop brought together local business owners and entrepreneurs to strengthen their marketing approach and better connect with their target audiences.

Designed to tackle common marketing challenges in a clear, jargon-free way, the interactive session helped businesses identify their ideal customers, understand their needs and develop practical strategies to reach them more effectively. Through hands-on activities and discussion, participants created tailored customer profiles and left with actionable plans and ready-to-use templates they could implement straight away.

Dr Georgiana Busoi, Project Lead for The Marketing Agency at the University of Portsmouth, said: “Our aim is to simplify marketing and make it practical. We want local businesses to feel confident in understanding their audience and making informed decisions that lead to growth.”

This series of workshops is just some of the activity provided by the Marketing Agency’s to support local businesses, delivered in collaboration with Portsmouth City Council and Shaping Portsmouth.
