Gadd brothers shine as Havant romp to Southern Premier League Cup group success against Burridge

Brothers Freddie and Harry Gadd impressed as Havant recorded a second successive Southern Premier League Cup victory.

Freddie, the younger of the two, opened the bowling and took two early wickets as Burridge were restricted to 124-9 off their 40 overs at Havant Park.

Harry opened the batting and struck a half-century as the hosts raced to a six-wicket victory with more than 16 overs in hand.

Electing to field first, Freddie Gadd dismissed opener Joe Collings-Wells for a golden duck, caught behind by keeper Jeremy Bulled.

It was 3-2 when Chris Blake - who had scored an undefeated 89 against Sparsholt the previous week - was trapped leg before by Gadd for a single.

Burridge were 26-3 when opener Jack Paskins was clean bowled by skipper Chris Morgan, who ended with 4-26 off eight overs.

James Hughes top scored for Burridge with 31 while skipper Hilio De Abreu hit 29.

In reply, Havant opener Charlie Whitfield was dismissed first ball by Mohammad Abbas, but Gadd and Peter Hopson (27) added 79 for the second wicket.

Chris Stone (2) fell cheaply, but Gadd went on to hit six fours in his 52 before he was fourth out at 116 with the game virtually won.
