Comment: Portsmouth winger's frustrations show how far he's comeÂ

It's an attitude that will delight Kenny Jackett '“ and the Fratton faithful.Â

Jamal Lowe has told of his hunger to rediscover his goal touch after failing to register a goal or assist in six games.

After a scintillating start to the season, netting six and creating four, the Pompey winger is currently enduring a short dry spell in the final third.

Clearly, Lowe regards his recent form as not good enough '“ although there aren't too many who would have the same opinion.

During the past six games, the 24-year-old has still been a potent attacking threat.

The chirpy forward has continued to conjure up plenty of opportunities during the period, without directly being involved in a goal himself.

In Saturday's 1-1 draw at Accrington, he was the visitors' main outlet.

In the opening 30 minutes the Accy defence found Lowe unplayable.

He was the Blues' man of the match by a significant margin.

Home keeper Connor Ripley thwarted a decent shot of Lowe's, while his left-footed cross was headed against the post by Ronan Curtis.

After raising his expectation levels following a barnstorming opening to the campaign, the forward recognises the rapid headway he's made since moving to Fratton Park from Hampton & Richmond Borough in January 2017.

On the whole, Lowe's Pompey career has been impressive.

His double at Notts County clinched the Blues promotion from League Two.

He also scored in the 6-1 thumping of Cheltenham which resulted in Paul Cook's side being crowned champions.

Last campaign, Lowe was one of his side's best performers, helping the Blues to an eighth-place finish on their League One return.

The Harrow-born ace has continued his upward trajectory this term and has been a vital cog in Kenny Jackett's side's promotion charge.

And, judging by his attitude and performances, there's still more to come.

Few could have predicted just how much Lowe would improve following his non-league arrival almost two years ago.

But he's developed into an indispensable figure at Pompey and is seemingly still to peak.
