Now the latest crop of promising youngsters have the opportunity to demonstrate their talents in front of the Fratton faithful.

The Academy, who were handed a local derby during Friday’s draw, have moved swiftly to stage the fixture.

Only the South stand will be open for the occasion, with seats available to purchase on the night.

FA Youth Cup games are traditionally well-supported by Pompey fans and another decent crowd is anticipated on Thursday.

A crowd of 1,779 attended the December 2015 defeat to Manchester City, in which the hosts did themselves proud.

It took Brahim Abdelkadel Diaz’s goal nine minutes from time to separate the teams in a 2-1 scoreline.

Lukas Nmecha broke the deadlock in the 13th minute, yet the visitors found the spirited Blues in determined mood.

Harvey Bradbury appeared off the bench to level in the 70th minute and spark thoughts of extra-time before City’s late winner.
