But they’ll also take to the Wham Stadium pitch knowing this season’s play-offs are beyond their reach.
With 10 games of the season remaining after the Accy fixture, that’s not a scenario many would not have predicted after the Blues’ fine start to the campaign.
Yet, as we’re all too aware, that early-season optimism slowly but surely drained away as results started to tail off rather spectacularly.
So what is there to look forward to as Pompey arrow in on the end of the season?
Well, there’s no doubt we all want to see the Blues end the campaign on a high and for John Mousinho to continue his solid start to life at Fratton Park.
We’ll also want to see which players – and, in particular, those soon to be out of contract – are really up for the challenge of leading the Blues into another new era next term.
The remaining games also bring with them some interesting extras that are sure to keep numbers coming through the turnstiles and supporters’ interests alive.
So here we look at what match-day highlights there are to look forward to and the subplots that exist as the Blues plough on until the end of the 2022-23 season.

9. Accrington (H)
Let's be honest, Accrington at home on Saturday, April 22, is a hard sell. It's not like the scenario that faced the Blues on the final day of the 2020-21 season when a play-off place was at stake. For Accy, their next visit to Fratton Park could be crucial as they battle against the drop. But for home fans, the fact that it will be Pompey's penultimate home game of the season might be a factor. Photo: Nathan Stirk

10. Derby County (A)
Pompey's last visit to Derby County's Pride Park ground came more than 11-and-a-half years ago, when they were beaten 3-1 in a 2011-12 Championship fixture. And with the Rams looking good for a play-off place this term, there's no guarantee that another trip back is in the offing any time soon. A trip to Derby will remind many Blues fans what life in the Championship will look like. Pompey will also approach the game with the intention of proving they can compete with the best teams in this year's third tier. Photo: Clive Mason

11. Wycombe (H)
And so we have the final game of the season at Fratton Park on Sunday, May 7. Back when Gareth Ainsworth was in charge of the Chairboys, such a fixture would have been a good excuse to vent at the Wycombe boss for his anti-football tactics. However, things have changed at Adams Park following Ainsworth's decision to return to former club QPR. And complaining to his successor, Matt Bloomfield, doesn't have the same appeal at the moment! That said, the game will present both Pompey fans and players the chance to thank each other for their support over the 2022-23 season. A lap of appreciation will no doubt be on the cards, while a few goodbyes will likely be thrown into the mix as well as the curtain comes down on another eventful season. Photo: Alex Morton
