Another of Portsmouth's League One rivals sack manager - only minutes after Bristol Rovers boss departs
Northampton boss Keith Curle is the second League One boss to be sacked today.
The Cobblers have parted company with Curle and assistant Colin West in a bid to retain their third-tier status.
After promotion via the League Two play-offs last season, Northampton sit second-bottom of the table.
They suffered a 1-0 loss to relegation rivals Wigan on Tuesday night, which proved to be Curle's final game in the Sixfields hot seat.
Chairman Kelvin Thomas told the club's website: ‘We have a huge amount of respect for Keith and Colin and we will always owe them a debt of gratitude for the promotion they achieved but we feel a change is now required.
"Our results, and in particular our lack of goals, have left us in a very difficult position in the league and we believe that this decision is in the best interests of the club as we battle to retain our League One status.
‘Keith and Colin leave with our thanks and our best wishes and their time at the club will go down as a success, especially managing us through the difficult period of Covid 19.’
A 2-0 loss to Oxford on Tuesday left the Gas 20th in the table, with Tisdale being axed after just 19 games in charge.
Pompey travel to Bristol Rovers next week.
