Brighton 4 Portsmouth 0: Recap as Blues exit Carabao Cup as Premier League side show second-half class

Pompey take on Brighton and Hove Albion in the second round of the Carabao Cup this evening.

It’s been a short trip across the A27 for Kenny Jackett’s side as they target an upset against the Premier League hosts.

The Blues scrapped past League Two Stevenage in the opening stage of the competition last month.

After a 3-3 draw, with Pompey battling back from being two goals behind in 10 minutes, they won the penalty shootout to win the tie.

Jackett’s side have been rewarded with a meeting against the Seagulls and it’s another top-flight test, with the Blues facing Southampton and Arsenal last season.
