The hosts were held to a 1-1 draw in their play-off semi-final first-leg tie at Fratton Park, after Ronan Curtis’ first-half opener was cancelled out by Marcus Brown just before the interval.

It means Kenny Jackett’s side have it all to do in the second game of the double-header at the Kassam Stadium on Monday night.

And that fact isn’t lost on fans on Twitter and Facebook, who were disappointed with the outcome of tonight’s match-up.

Here’s what a selection of fans on social media have been saying since the final whistle blew at Fratton Park.

Graeme Blackford: Time to put your best team out not your mates!

Brett Harley: The ref was truly awful.

2 of the 4 penalty shouts were definitely penalties on Burgess and Curtis, one other debatable handball.

Shocking, but to be expected when you send Gavin Ward to ref the game.

@Sopuh_: Was playing well at the start then after we score we go back to smashing it long again.

@NickNickwilson7: Disappointing though especially as we should have have had at least a few penalties.

@stanneth83: Didn't create enough imo.

@PompeyCorner: Anyone’s game Monday. Hope Pompey selects their strongest XI for the return leg

Anthony Knight: Would like to say I’m disappointed..but I’m not, it was to be expected given our play off record.

Mark Davis: Same old hoofball. No plan b..no idea..and still no play off win.

Brad Stewart: Set up was wrong. Always has been on big games.

Matt Richardson: Did Morris even touch the ball? Naylor for Monday please.

Christopher Elston: We need to play for the win, not accept a draw.
