That’s according to Football Insider, who claim the 27-year-old has linked up with the Trotters in a bid to earn a contract following his Swindon departure earlier this month.

He rejoined the Robins in July, after having a loan spell there in October 2019 following his release from Mansfield.

Donohue featured six times in total during his first spell but did not play after November 9 because of injury and FA registration problems.

On his return in the summer, then Swindon boss Richie Wellens said he was prepared to offer the player his ‘very last chance’ in football.

However, his time at the League One side – now managed by John Sheridan – was cut short, with Donohue featuring 11 times for the Robins this season.
