Now Lloyd Isgrove finds himself in limbo once again after leaving Swindon.

The League One newcomers had offered the winger a new deal following 32 appearances in last term’s promotion season.

However, boss Richie Wellens has announced time has now run out to sign it – and Isgrove has departed.

Now aged 27, Isgrove arrived at Fratton Park on loan from Barnsley in January 2019 to bolster the Blues’ hold on an automatic promotion spot.

Swindon boss Wellens told the Swindon Advertiser: ‘I think Isgrove has passed us by now, I think that’s gone.

‘I’m gutted for him to be honest, but he took so long in accepting the deal.

‘He is a great kid, he was a great part of the dressing room last season and I think you saw for the first three or four months of last season what a talent he can be.

‘It’s a shame the injury away at Crawley interrupted his season, but then he came back and he was just getting into real top form in training just as the season ended.

‘I think it’s time now to wish Lloyd Isgrove all the best and I’ll look out for his career because he’s a great kid.’

Pompey entered the 2019 transfer window top of League One.

They subsequently signed Andy Cannon and Bryn Morris, with Isgrove, Omar Bogle, James Vaughan and Viv Solomon-Otabor arriving on loan.

Isgrove was the only arrival not to feature.

His sole involvement was a non-playing substitute role against Doncaster, Scunthorpe and Shrewsbury.

Pompey ultimately finished fourth and lost out in the play-off semi-finals to Sunderland.
