Pompey will make their first trip to Port Vale for the first time in more than 20 years on Saturday.

Indeed, the Blues’ last visit to Vale Park was in April 2000 in the old English League Division One, now known as the Championship.
The last fixture saw Tony Pulis’ men fall to a 2-0 defeat, with names including Darren Moore, Steve Claridge and Shaun Derry all featuring in the loss.
Twenty-two years later and in much different circumstances, Danny Cowley’s men take on the Valiants in a bid to continue their impressive unbeaten start to the League One campaign.
But where are the 11 players who started for Pompey against Port Vale in 2000 now?

9. Ceri Hughes
The midfielder came through the ranks at Luton where he spent eight years of his 13 year career. After making a £150,000 move to Pompey in 2000, Hughes would go on to appear 38 times for the Blues before departing in March 2002. During his second spell at Pompey, the striker netted 35 goals in 114 outings during a three year spell at PO4. After retiring in January 2007, the former Millwall forward became a regular pundit for the BBC on the Football League Show and Football Focus. The popular striker played pivotal roles in helping the Blues survive the drop from the Championship on a number of occasions during his time at Fratton Park. He netted 29 goals in 106 outings for Pompey before joining Walsall in 2004.
