The clash was due to take place more than a year ago but was postponed amid the Covid-19 crisis.
And given we’re 12 months down the line, it means both teams’ squads have changed significantly.
The likes of Charlie Daniels, Michael Jacobs, Rasmus Nicolaisen and Jordy Hiwula all weren’t at Fratton Park when Pompey booked their return to the national stadium with a dramatic 3-2 semi-final win over Exeter in March 2020.
Still, Kenny Jackett’s been given the green light to select from his enture squad after confusion earlier in the week was finally cleared up.
Pompey are in dire form heading into the final, having won just one of their past seven games and dropped to sixth in League One.
Jackett has to not only select a side who can win the final but one that can get its confidence back if the Blues are to yield promotion to the Championship with 13 matches in the league remaining.
Here’s how we think Pompey will start against Salford...

. Goalkeeper - Craig MacGillivray
The stopper was one of the heroes two years ago when he made a crucial save to thwart Lee Cattermole's penalty. MacGillivray will be looking for another big performance. Photo: Joe Pepler
. Right-back - James Bolton
It looked like the defender would completely miss out on being involved at Wembley. However, Callum Johnson's injury means Bolton has a chance to return to the national stadium having lost the play-off final with Shrewsbury in 2018. Photo: Joe Pepler
. Centre-back - Jack Whatmough
The fans' favourite cruelly missed playing at Wembley two years ago when he was absent with a long-term knee problem. He'll be relishing the experience. Photo: Joe Pepler
. Centre-back - Sean Raggett
The defender played six times on the road to Wembley and not many more in the squad deserve to start on that basis. Needs to bounce back after his errors against Sunderland on Tuesday. Photo: Joe Pepler
