'Huge L', 'Triffic' - Portsmouth fans divided as Harry Redknapp agrees to Bournemouth role

Harry Redknapp has returned to football in an effort to help out managerless Bournemouth – and Portsmouth fans have been quick to react on social media.

The 73-year-old has been out of the professional game since leaving Birmingham City in 2017, apart from brief stint in an advisory role with Yeovil Town, but looks set to step in and provide some assistance to caretaker boss Jonathan Woodgate.

The Cherries parted company with Jason Tindall last week following a disappointing run of results that saw them slip to sixth in the Championship table.

It is understood that Woodgate himself asked Redknapp if he would be keen on joining his staff at the Vitality Stadium, and the former Pompey boss has agreed to a voluntary role – although he will not be working in a coaching capacity.

Redknapp previously managed Bournemouth between 1983 and 1992, before going on to spend two spells in the dugout at Fratton Park.

The veteran boss famously won the 2008 FA Cup during his time with Pompey – his only major managerial honour to date.
