The News understands that the injury suffered by Kusini Yengi had nothing to do with the pitches at the club’s Hilsea training base.

Instead, the setback picked up by the striker on Thursday is an ‘impact injury’ – and unrelated to any other factor.

The News’ Jordan Cross made this important point via his Twitter account prior to today’s League One game against Cheltenham.

It followed unfounded speculation on social media that the cause of the injury was ‘waterlogged’ pitches at Roko.

Making it clear that that was not the case, Cross tweeted: ‘Just worth clarifying because of some of the talk, Yengi's issue was an impact injury - and had nothing to do the training ground pitches which are in perfect condition despite there being heavy rainfall yesterday.’

How long the Blues anticipate their current top goalscorer to be out for can be expected later today, when head coach John Mousinho addresses the media following the game against the Robins.

As expected, the Aussie is not in the match-day squad, after leaving Roko on Thursday in a protective boot.

Yengi has scored four goals in three games for the Blues following his summer arrival from Western Sydney Warriors.
