Kenny Jackett reveals extent of Jack Whatmough's injury which forced him off in Portsmouth defeat to Charlton

Jack Whatmough is facing three weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Pompey boss has revealed the extent of the issue which forced the defender off at the break against Charlton on Saturday.

And it looks like the 24-year-old could miss around five games as he recovers from the setback.

Jackett admitted the news is a blow, but is glad the damage is not more serious and highlighted the injury will present a chance to Dane Rasmus Nicolaisen.

He told Pompey’s Twitter page: ‘We think Jack will be out for around three weeks with a hamstring injury.

‘It’s a shame because he’s started the season very well, but it’s not a long-term thing and there’s an opportunity for Rasmus.’
