Neil Harris has joined Gillingham as their new first-team coach following the sacking of Steve Evans.

However, the former Cardiff and Millwall boss declined the offer after not being keen on only being appointed on a temporary basis.

The 44-year-old was prepared to drop out of the Championship had the right offer come from the Blues, who later appointed Danny Cowley.

Charlton land Ipswich midfielder

Charlton’s continued pursuit of Ipswich midfielder Scott Fraser has paid off.

The player has joined the Addicks for an undisclosed fee and on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

On Sunday, the Tractor Boys accepted an updated bid for the 26-year-old – paving the way for the former MK Dons ace to make the move to The Valley.

Fraser was one of 19 arrivals at Portman Road in the summer and was seen as a key part of the project being put together under Paul Cook.

However, he struggled to replicate his impressive Dons form for Ipswich and hadn’t featured under new manager Kieran McKenna after he replaced the sacked Cook last month.

Charlton’s successful move for Fraser will be seen as a major coup for the Addicks, especially after the likes of Swansea were also reportedly keen.

However, the midfielder won’t be able to feature against Pompey tonight as the south London side travel to Fratton Park for a League One fixture.

Ipswich Town’s 19-year-old striker Tyreece Simpson is reportedly attracting interest from Cardiff, Hull and Barnsley.

Simpson has spent the first half of the season on loan at Swindon, where he scored 11 times in 30 outings.

He was recalled by the Tractor Boys after contractual issues and it appears that a trio of clubs from the second tier are keeping an eye on the striker.

The teenager has played seven times for Town without scoring but boss Kieran McKenna has said that the younger is in his plans going forward.
