Pompey have confirmed that Saturday’s League One match against Wigan at Fratton Park will no longer serve as a test event for the return of supporters.

The Blues were hoping to welcome back up to 1,000 fans for the Latics’ game, with the Fratton faithful starved of football since the visit of Fleetwood back on Tuesday, March 10.

They had applied to be part of the EFL pilot scheme and had asked season-ticket holders who had signed up for a flexi-season ticket to register their interest.

However, Pompey have had to change those plans following the statement made by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to the House of Commons earlier today, when he outlined new lockdown measures to stem the spread of coronavirus.

The latest restrictions could be in place for six months.

The club await further clarity from the government and EFL about what this means for the return of fans in the longer-term and will update supporters once they are in a position to do so.
