Portsmouth fans get new date for their diaries as second pre-season fixture announced
Pompey’s pre-season plans are slowly but surely starting to take shape
Details of a second Pompey pre-season fixture have emerged.
Last week it was revealed the Blues would travel to National League side Aldershot Town as part of their preparations for the 2026-27 Championship campaign, with the game at the Recreation Ground taking place on Wednesday, July 15.
Now Pompey fans have another date for their diaries, with non-league neighbours Moneyfields announcing the Fratton Park side will travel to the John Jenkins Stadium on Tuesday, July 28 for a 7.45pm kick-off.
Last year, the hosts secured a 2-0 win against a young Pompey XI asked to make the short trip. It’s not clear at this stage, though, whether a similiar Blues team will take on the Isthmian League side or if the Championship outfit will use the friendly to get more game time into the leg of their first-team squad.
Pompey kick-off the new season on the weekend of August 14-16. Their fixture for that opening game of the campaign will not be known until fixtures for the entire season are announced on Thursday, June 25.
The Blues players report back for pre-season at the end of June. A training camp in Cyprus had been earmarked to prepare for the club’s third season in the Championship, but tensions in the Middle East posing a security risk led to those plans being ditched.
