Portsmouth post £4.3m losses after Championship return as owners loan club £8m
The Blues have filed their accounts at Companies House for the year ending June 30, 2025
Pompey posted losses of £4.3m for their first Championship season in 12 years.
However, the stand-out development within the Blues’ latest accounts is owners Tornante having loaned the club £8m.

Although the loan is unsecured with no repayment deadline, it represents the first time equity hasn’t been put into Fratton Park since the Eisner family became owners in August 2017.
Additionally, since the year end, a further £9m loan from the owners has been made to ‘support the club’s operations both on and off the field’. A statement within the accounts clarifies ‘this club remains free from external debt’.
Tornante’s total investment to date is now £54m, including the original £10m laid down as part of the sale agreement. Of which £17m is in the format of loans from the owners.
Accounts for the year ending June 30, 2025
Pompey have now recorded losses in five successive years, with latest financial figures showing a deficit of £4.36m - a drop from the £5.6m loss posted in 2023-24.
Turnover was £24,568,000, signifying an increase of £10.95m on the previous year when the Blues were playing in League One.
Match-day revenue, which includes ticket sales, rose by £1.39m, boosted by league attendances averaging 20,263, a rise of seven per cent from League One.
Elsewhere, commercial and sponsorship revenue was posted at £2.29m, representing a rise of 25.34 per cent, while £4.6m was spent on player transfer fees and agents.
Broadcasting revenue totalled £11.56m, a huge leap from £2.49m recorded in the previous year, reflecting the significant difference between TV deals in League One and the Championship.
Meanwhile, wage costs, consisting of 141 employees and 176 casual staff, rose by £6.85m to £17.42m after reaching the Championship.
Revenue from the Pompey Health & Fitness Club helped drive other non-football income to £1.69m, representing a rise from £1.55m the previous year.
£8m loan from the owners
Elsewhere, of the £8m ownership loan contained within the accounts, £709,000 was transferred to Pompey Women. In future, such funding will be paid directly to Portsmouth Women’s Community Football Club Limited.
The £9m loan made by the owners to Pompey after the year end is not included in the current set of accounts. This was provided during the period to December 2025 to ‘help fund the football club operations’.
And while Pompey are no longer debt free, the club will stress it remains free from external debt and is funded exclusively by Tornante, with all debt unsecured.
