Jayden Meghoma’s exciting Portsmouth vow after former Rangers man’s searing Cardiff City bow after Brentford arrival

It was an eye-catching debut from the Brentford arrival, which excited the Fratton Faithful over his Championship prospects this term.

Jayden Meghoma stated his Pompey attacking intent after a blazing man-of-the-match Fratton arrival.

And the Brentford speedster promised this is just the beginning after his flying Blues bow in Saturday’s 2-0 success over Cardiff City.

The former Rangers man was a constant attacking threat, as he dovetailed impressively with fellow new boy Tyrese Shade, as John Mousinho’s side delivered a win full of positives.

It was a day to savour for Meghoma, but the Londoner is confident this is just the start with more big performances on the horizon.

He said: ‘It’s been an amazing start.

‘As a team we were fantastic but the fans really pushed up and gave us that extra man. It really helped.

‘It’s really enjoyable and I had the fans on my side. That brought the adrenaline out and I enjoyed every moment.

‘Attacking was my mindset - that’s my mindset going into every game.

‘I think I offered glimpses of what I can achieve.

‘To be honest, I think there’s a lot more to come and if I’m being critical there’s still a lot of things I can improve on. It’s a good start though.

‘I feel I’m in a good place right now and I’m ready to make my mark in this team.’

Meghoma’s capture follows on from a campaign in which the 20-year-old racked up an impressive 44 performances north of the border with Rangers.

His personal aim is to repeat those kind of numbers at PO4 - and help Pompey challenge at the right end of the Championship.

Meghoma added: ‘I want to really push this season with this group of players.

‘I feel we have a strong core team here and I think there’s a chance to be able to push for the play-offs.

‘I just want to finish as a high as I can, make sure we enjoy every week and give the fans something to cheer.

‘I absolutely think I repeat the kind of numbers I produced last season.

‘That’s what the Championship is about. It’s about being on it from the start and then being able to maintain it game after game. I’ve really enjoyed being here already.’
