Former Portsmouth loanee tipped with shock switch to relegation rivals as Wrexham eye £2.6m defender swoop

The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey and their Championship rivals.

After Sunday’s postponement against Ipswich Town, Pompey have six days to wait until they’re back in action as they face Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Although the Blues have the exciting prospect of facing the Premier League leaders at the end of the week, attention is currently on the January transfer window which is now well underway.

John Mousinho has already signalled his ambition of recruiting between 3-6 new faces before deadline day on February 2 as he bids to strengthen his side for the second half of the campaign.

Pompey, of course, currently sit just one point above the relegation zone with plenty of business to be done ahead of a hugely-important run in.

Elsewhere, clubs across the Championship are also looking to add before the closure in four weeks time, with gossip and speculation doing the rounds across the division.

Here are the latest headlines involving the Blues and their second-tier rivals.

Former Pompey loanee heading to Oxford

Former Pompey loanee and League One title winner Miles Peart-Harris is the subject of interest from Oxford United.

The attacking midfielder has been tipped with a switch to the Blues’ relegation rivals as he eyes a return to the Championship following his stint with Swansea City last term.

Football Insider have claimed the U’s have opened talks with Brentford over a potential swoop for the 23-year-old as they bid to strengthen their attacking department.

Peart-Harris has registered just one outing for the Bees at first-team level this term, which saw him come off the bench in Sunday’s 4-2 triumph over Everton.

Now it appears the forward could seal a temporary exit in January, with managerless Oxford reportedly keen.

The young attacker made the move to Pompey in 2024 and scored two goals in 12 appearances as Mousinho’s men secured the League One title.

The U’s currently occupy the final relegation spot and are one point behind the Blues, who sit 21st on 25 points.

Wrexham eye £2.6m deal

Wrexham are reportedly keen on landing Hammarby defender Hampus Skoglund this January.

That's according to Football Insider, who have suggested the Red Dragons are working on a £2.1m deal to land the 21-year-old this month.

The report claims Phil Parkinson’s men are not alone in the pursuit of the right-back, with Bundesliga outfit Mainz also believed to be keen.

Skoglund is catching the attention after an impressive breakthrough 18 months with the Swedish outfit, which has seen him amass 65 first-team appearances to date.

Wrexham are said to be willing to splash the cash in January for the defender, who has three-and-a-half-years left on his current terms.

The Red Dragons are looking to achieve a play-off finish over the second half of the season and sit one point away from the top six at present.
