Some players stepped up to the mark amid a positive early start from John Mousinho’s side, while others have come up hugely short amid the team’s recent struggles.
Pompey writer Jordan Cross gives his honest appraisal of how the players have done so far - do you agree with his marks out of 10?

9. Marlon Pack - 7
Anyone saying Marlon Pack would start six Championship games on the spin this term in the summer would've been dismissed. Yet that's what the skipper has done - and he's done so at a high level as one of his team's top performers. Maybe says a lot about how underwhelming the new midfielders have been, but the Buckland boy is still a key figure. Photo: Graham Hunt

10. John Swift 7
Arguably one of the toughest players to mark, given how much his form fluctuated early on - but worth remembering he was doing a job in a defensive midfield role which is not his most favoured. A move forward has seen the Gosport lad shine with some standout performances. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

11. Colby Bishop 4
Been through the kind of challenges most of us could never comprehend over the past 16 months, but, on the pitch, Pompey's main supply of goals is facing one of his toughest tests. Striker's loss of form has hurt Pompey, there's no doubt about it, with his frustration increasingly evident as his influence waned. Anyone writing Bishop off clearly hasn't been around for the past few years, however. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

12. Adrian Segecic 7
A shining light as the Sydney Cyclone ripped into Championship defences early on in exciting fashion. Three goals from an xG of just 0.8 is testament to the quality of the Aussie's eye-catching finishes. Form levelled slightly before injury - but we can't wait to have the dynamo back. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages
