Pompey’s retained list is expected to be released in the coming days with clarity on the futures of John Mousinho’s squad.

We’ve got the inside track on how things are set to appear when details are officially published over the 38 players who make up the current senior set-up.

The inside track on Pompey’s 2026 retained list

In previous years there’s been a surprise or two sprung in the player meetings which take place in the wake of the season finishing.

We’ve seen the likes of Joe Morrell, Sean Raggett and Joe Rafferty move on after League One title success, while last year it was Kusini Yengi’s departure which raised an eyebrow or two.

In reality this time around there are likely to be few surprises, with the one possible grey area cleared up yesterday as Andre Dozzell’s exit was confirmed.

There were talks over a new deal for the midfielder, but Dozzell has opted against sealing a new deal in favour of taking up a new challenge with MLS side DC United - signing a two-year agreement with a club option to extend that stay by 12 months.

That leaves six other players who see their deals come to a close.

In the cases of skipper Marlon Pack, Zak Swanson and Connor Ogilvie there are hopes and optimism new terms can be sealed to ensure the trio remain for the 2026-27 season.

Back-up keeper Jordan Archer becomes a free agent and is expected to move on after making three appearances in two seasons.

Meanwhile it’s set to be the same scenario for young midfielder Reuben Swann, with the 19-year-old a regular for Havant & Waterlooville on loan over the past two seasons since signing from AFC Sudbury in 2024. Swann was named on the bench for Pompey on the final day of the Championship campaign against Birmingham City.

Harry Clout has one senior outing to his name in the FA Cup against Wycombe last year, with his term spent with the likes of Hawks, Farnborough and Welling after signing a professional contract last year. The 19-year-old will likely move on when his deal comes to a close at the end of June.

Six loan players will return to their parent clubs in Florian Bianchini, Millenic Alli, Aji Alese, Conor Chaplin, Jacob Brown and Gustavo Caballero.

That leaves 25 players currently contracted for the 26-27 season.
