Wolves to sanction defender exit before Portsmouth contest as Championship trio battle to sign ex-Rangers man
The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s Championship rivals.
It was an action-packed summer in the transfer window at Fratton Park as John Mousinho assembled his new Championship squad.
The Blues splashed the cash with £11m spent recurring Rocco Shein, Eoin Kenny, Odin Bailey, Marko Milovanovic, Daniel Bielica, Luke Brooke-Smith, Abu Kamara, Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, Benjy Arthur, Iyad Mohamed, Jayden Meghoma and Tyrese Shade all arriving.
While 12 players arrived through the doors, seven players departed through the window along with Luke Le Roux whose deal was ripped up after the deadline.

Mousinho is still expected to trim his squad, with Pompey looking to offload Jacob Farrell and Harvey Blair with a number of foreign markets still open.
Despite the English window coming to a close, there’s plenty of transfer activity still doing the rounds across the Championship as the Blues’ rivals seal free-agent signings.
Here are the latest headlines from around the second-tier.
Wolves set to sanction defender exit
It was a busy summer at Molineux following Wolves’ Premier League relegation, with plenty of changes both on and off the pitch.
New boss Cesar Peixoto is still finalising his squad despite the English window’s close as he looks to send out a number of fringe players in the coming weeks.
Among those are centre-back Santiago Bueno, who is reportedly closing in on a switch to Mexican outfit Club America.
According to Football Insider the Old Gold have given the green light to a temporary move to the Liga MX for the 27-year-old, who is not in the Portuguese coach’s plans this season.
The report states the defender will pen a season-long loan deal and is currently traveling to Mexico to finalise the agreement, which is expected to include an option-to-buy clause.
News of Bueno’s potential exit comes after the £8.5m man was left out of Peixoto's 25-man EFL squad which was submitted last week.
During his three-year stay at Molineux, the ex-Girona man amassed 85 outings for Wolves, which also saw him appear on the scoresheet on four occasions.
Championship trio chase free agent

A host of Championship clubs are chasing free agent attacker Rabbi Matondo, according to reports.
Transfer guru Pete O’Rourke has revealed Cardiff City, Burnley and Blackburn Rovers are all interested in the winger, who is available on a free transfer following his departure from Liege in August.
It is believed the Bluebirds, who are winless in their opening six league matches, are leading the chase to land the 15-cap Wales international, with Brian Barry-Murphy said to be a huge fan of the wide talent.
Matondo rose through the ranks as a youngster before joining Manchester City as a teenager, with the Welsh outfit now looking to re-sign the academy graduate.
After departing the Etihad Stadium in 2018, the 26-year-old went on to appear for Schalke, Stoke City, Hannover 96, Cercle Brugge and Rangers before a short stay with SK Brann last term.
Having failed to register a goal or an assist in three outings for the Norwegian outfit, the winger departed the Brann Stadion after just six months after his contract was mutually terminated.
Now, a return to the Welsh capital is being touted for Matondo, who is also of interest to Burnley and Blackburn Rovers.
