'Going to really nail a few things down' - Key Portsmouth recruitment meeting scheduled as John Mousinho seeks transfer clarity

Transfer meeting called at Pompey to discuss Blues’ remaining transfer window activity as deadline looms

John Mousinho expects to get full clarity on Pompey’s remaining transfer business this afternoon.

The Blues boss admitted the rest of today will be dedicated to strengthening his Fratton Park ranks and will be the key period between now and Tuesday night’s 11pm deadline.

Despite already welcoming 10 new faces through the door at PO4 this summer, Mousinho told The News on Saturday that he hoped a further three new signings would arrive before the transfer window slams shut.

Left-back and the forward department remain priority positions, with an attacking midfielder also likely if a suitable bid for Adrian Segecic is received.

Of course, any further business could overlap with a home game against Derby on Tuesday night.

The Rams travel to Fratton Park with three defeats from their opening four games of the season, while the hosts will be keen to get their first win of the campaign on home turf after suffering a 3-1 defeat to QPR at PO4 on August 15.

Mousinho confirmed today that all prep work for the Derby game has been completed, freeing up time for both him and sporting director Rich Hughes to concentrate fully on the remaining hours of the transfer window.

With potential outgoings also to be considered, with Josef Bursik line to be the next to leave, it promises to be a hectic end to the trading period.

But with the intention over the remainder of the day to ‘nail a few things down’, Mousinho expects a productive end to another summer recruitment drive.

‘We had the (Bristol City) post-match (meeting) yesterday when we came in, we had the pre-match for Derby this morning in terms of that preparation.

‘I’ve had a couple of brief chats with Rich (Hughes), but now this afternoon we're going to really nail a few things down and go from there.

‘I'll have a lot more clarity obviously tomorrow night, but yeah, this is a good afternoon for us to get going on a couple of bits.’
