Birmingham City turn transfer attention elsewhere after Ipswich Town setback amid chase in Portsmouth attacker Adrian Segečić
Birmingham City have an interest in Adrian Segečić ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
Birmingham City are expected to come up short in their pursuit of Ipswich Town attacking midfielder Anis Mehmeti amid their ongoing interest in Adrian Segečić.
Chris Davies is looking to recruit a new No.10 before Tuesday’s transfer deadline as he attempts to bolster his front-line.
It is understood the Pompey talent is on the radar of the football operations at St Andrews, while Mehmeti has also been touted with a switch to the West Midlands.

Birmingham City suffer transfer setback in Ipswich Town attacker
While initial reports suggested the Blues were hopeful of landing the 25-year-old, that picture has since changed ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
Transfer guru Pete O’Rourke from Football Insider has stated Mehmeti wants to remain at Portman Road despite Championship interest.
The report claims the attacker, who only arrived in Suffolk in January in a £3m deal from Bristol City, wants to fight for a place in Gary O’Neil’s Premier League squad.
The London-born Albania international has yet to feature in any of the Tractor Boys’ opening three matches in all competitions so far this season and was left out of their 20-man squad for Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United.
And quizzed after the contest at Old Trafford, Ipswich boss and ex-Pompey midfielder Gary O’Neil admitted he would open to keeping Mehmeti beyond the summer window.
He told The East Anglian Daily Times: ‘All the players at this football club are welcome to stay.
‘Anis is a great lad. He works his socks off and has quality. So, no, there's nothing really from me on Anis or anyone else.
‘If they stay at the football club, we'll use them and we'll get the very best out of them. That's the same with Anis.’
Meanwhile, Birmingham have instead set their sights on Union Saint-Gilloise attacking midfielder Mohammed Fuseini.
Following an initial report from Flashscore Ghana, Birmingham Live have claimed the 24-year-old is under consideration as a late-window option at St Andrews.
Birmingham’s interest in Pompey’s Adrian Segečić

Birmingham’s chase for Mehmeti could have implications on any late-window movement for Segečić, who is understood to be of interest to the Blues.
The News revealed last week that Davies’ side are keen on the highly-rated 22-year-old after his impressive emergence at Fratton Park last term.
However, the head coach sees the potential for that changing, with his side ready to react in the event of a suitable offer being received for the prized asset.
Segečić has netted 13 goals in 44 outings for Pompey after arriving from Sydney FC in June 2025 for a six-figure fee - and still has two-years remaining on his current terms.
